The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the end of the Covid-19 epidemic is in sight.
This was said by the World Organization at a time when the number of weekly deaths due to Covid worldwide has reached the lowest level since March 2020.
During the week of September 5, 2022, 11 thousand 118 people died worldwide due to Covid-19.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said during a press conference that the number of deaths from Covid-19 last week was the lowest since March 2020.
He said that our position regarding the end of the Kovid epidemic has never been so good before, we have not reached the end yet but it is looking likely.
"We are seeing the end and we are in a good position, but we cannot stop now and have to continue our work," he added.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom said that if we do not seize this opportunity, we may face the risk of more strains of the virus, more deaths, and more uncertainty, so we must seize this opportunity.
WHO has also released 6 policy papers regarding the virus.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom said that these policy papers are for governments around the world to review and strengthen their policies.
He urged countries to ensure 100 percent vaccination and testing of high-risk groups.
