Explosion in Myanmar's biggest prison, 8 people killed

Eight people were killed in an explosion at the notorious Ansein prison in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), it has been reported by local people that two parcel bombs exploded at the entrance of the prison, as a result of which 8 people were killed.

 According to foreign media, 5 people who came to meet the prisoners including the prison staff were among those killed, while 10 people were also injured in the blast.

 According to media reports, Ansin Prison is one of the largest prisons in Myanmar, with around 10,000 inmates, most of whom are political prisoners.

Media reports further state that no party or group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, while officials say an investigation into the incident has been launched.
