The Election Commission of India has announced the first state elections in India Administered Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years.
According to a foreign news agency, this will be the first state election after India revoked the special status of India-administered Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
Voting for the state assembly will be held in 3 phases from September 18 to October 1, while the counting of votes will take place on October 4.
According to the Election Commission of India, 87 lakh voters will be eligible to vote in the state elections.
According to critics, the 90-seat state assembly will have control over departments such as education and culture, while decision-making powers on important issues will still remain with the central government.
Earlier in the month of June, voting was held for 5 Indian Lok Sabha seats in the state. According to the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections was 58.6 percent which is the highest turnout in the last 35 years.
