According to foreign media, the incident took place in China's Shandong province, where a school bus lost control of its driver and plowed into a crowd parked near a school, killing 11 people and injuring many others.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), China's state media confirmed 11 deaths and said that 5 of the dead were students and 6 others were parents of children.

The police have detained the bus driver, who is being investigated, but the cause of the accident is not immediately known.
