Pakistan: Islamabad High Court suspends notification to de-notify 11 PTI MNAs

The Islamabad High Court has suspended the notification of acceptance and de-notification of the resignations of 11 members of the National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Chief Justice Athar Minullah issued a written order to suspend the notification while the orders were issued at the request of PTI member National Assembly Abdul Shakoor Shad.

In the past few days, Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf accepted the resignation of 11 members of the National Assembly belonging to PTI, after which the Election Commission de-notified the members.

Among these members, the resignations of Ali Muhammad Khan, Fazal Muhammad Khan, Shaukat Ali, Fakhr Zaman Khan, Ejaz Shah, Jameel Ahmed, Akram Cheema, Abdul Shakur Shaad, Farrukh Habib, Shireen Mazari, and Shandana Gulzar were accepted.

The by-elections in these 9 constituencies have also been postponed due to floods and Imran Khan is the PTI candidate from these constituencies.
