According to foreign media reports, a court in Thailand has dismissed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for appointing a convicted lawyer as a minister in her cabinet.
According to the news, the court said in the verdict that the Prime Minister had appointed a lawyer who had spent jail time in the cabinet and the Prime Minister had knowingly appointed such a person who lacked moral integrity.
According to foreign media reports, 5 out of 9 judges voted in favor of dismissing the Thai Prime Minister and Cabinet. Reacting to her dismissal, Srettha Thavisin said, "I did my job honestly and to the best of my ability, but I accept the court's decision."
The report stated that 67-year-old Srettha Thavisin served as the Prime Minister of Thailand for less than a year. Thavisin is the third Thai Prime Minister in the last 16 years who has been removed from his post by the court. The Land Court has been removed from office.
The BBC wrote on the news of the dismissal of the Thai Prime Minister that this decision will further increase the political instability in Thailand, where there have been many military coups before. The last coup in Thailand took place in 2014, but even after that no stable government has been established.
