US Secretary of State's visit to China, 5 hours long meeting with his counterpart

On the second day of his two-day visit to China, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken met with Chen Gong and his group for five and a half hours.

The US Department of State stated in their statement that Antony Blanken had direct, specific, and in-depth contact with the Chinese Foreign Minister regarding the meeting of the foreign ministers. At the conference, Blanken emphasized the value of diplomacy and maintaining open lines of communication.

The Chinese Foreign Minister was also invited to Washington for the continuation of relations, according to the US Department of State. Foreign Minister Antony Blanken also addressed prospects for cooperation on shared international concerns.

According to the US State Department, the Chinese Foreign Minister accepted Antony Blanken's invitation and stated that he would want to visit the US at a suitable moment.

Antony Blanken departed the meeting after five hours to go to the dinner; today, he will also presumably see Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The US Secretary of State will speak with Chinese authorities about trade conflicts and how to strengthen bilateral ties during his two-day visit.

It should be emphasized that Anthony Blanken, the US Secretary of State, is the first senior official from the Biden administration to visit China.
