More than 280 security personnel fired in Afghanistan for not having a beard

In Afghanistan, the Taliban government fired more than 280 security personnel for not having beards.

After the Taliban took over the government in Afghanistan, they issued new guidelines for beardless civil servants.

In the instructions issued by the Taliban, it was made mandatory for employees in all government departments not to shave their beards and to wear local clothes.

According to foreign media, on Tuesday, the Taliban government's Ministry of Peace and Welfare and Nahi-in-ul-Mankar said in its annual report that more than 280 security force personnel have been fired for not having a beard.

Muhaibullah Makhlis, director of planning and legislation at the ministry, says that beardless officers in the security force were specifically identified and then dismissed.

The Ministry said that last year more than 13 thousand people were detained in Afghanistan on the charge of immoral activities.

It was also reported that over 21,000 musical instruments were smashed in the last year while thousands of computer operators were stopped from selling indecent films in the markets.

It should be noted that the Taliban government, which took over after the withdrawal of the American army in 2021, is heavily criticized by human rights organizations and the United Nations due to its policies.
